Here are some of our staff who you might meet while you're at SMACC (in alphabetical order).
Andrew Cheah is the Dean of St Mary's Cathedral. He trained as medical doctor in Adelaide before embarking on a ministry apprenticeship followed by 4 years at Moore Theological College in Sydney. With his family he returned to Kuala Lumpur to serve the church full-time. Andrew is passionate about reaching the unreached with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus and is keen to see God's people discipled to maturity in Christ and equipped for works of ministry. He loves to eat and can often be seen tucking into a hearty banana leaf lunch. Andrew is married to Judi and they have two daughters, Hannah and Beth.
Originally from Australia, Tim Nicholls came to know Christ as a child, before maturing in his faith during his university years. He first came to Malaysia in 2010 when he served as a ministry apprentice at St Mary’s. After studying at Moore Theological College in Sydney for 4 years, he returned to Malaysia to serve long term. Tim is currently serving as a Pastoral Assistant at St Mary’s, overseeing SMACC2, as well as the Ministry Director of Equip Gospel Ministries. Tim is married to Siew Mun they have a daughter Charissa. He loves Malaysian food, the hot tropical weather, and is learning to speak BM and Mandarin! But most of all he loves Jesus, and is passionate about seeing people from all nations come to know Christ as their Lord and Saviour and joyfully live for his glory.
Tim Philips grew up in the UK and did an apprenticeship at the Cathedral back in 2005. He went on to study theology at Oak Hill Theological College in the UK to further equip himself for ministry. Tim returned to Malaysia in 2010 to serve the church here full time. He oversees SMACC1 while also leading the Small Groups Ministry in the cathedral as a whole. He loves watching movies, cooking spaghetti bolognese (although the rest of the team are yet to sample and rate his skills) and avoiding the gym. He is married to Melissa and they have a son Josiah, daughter Bethany, and an energetic dog called Momo.
Yoke Ling was involved in tertiary student ministry for 5 years when she worked as a staff-worker at Fellowship of Evangelical Students in Malaysia. Prior to this she studied at Ridley Theological College in Melbourne. She came onto the staff team at SMACC in 2013 and is particularly involved in women's and tertiary ministry. Yoke Ling enjoys studying the Bible with others and seeing them grow in their knowledge and love of God. Her greatest desire is to see her parents come to know God one day.
In addition to those above, SMACC is served by a long list of leaders who partner together with our full-time staff team to glorify God together by making disciples of Jesus Christ.
